Testimony
TESTIMONY 0F BRO. ROGER DAIT
Goa, Camarines Sur
IT was in 1983, when a classmate invited me to attend a Bible study in our school. I readily accepted the invitation because I thought that it will help me cure my nagging head ache. My intention to attend was not to learn about salvation but just purely for health reasons. My head-ache bothered me so much during my college years.
The preacher, after finishing the Bible lesson, gave an invitation for us to receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and personal Savior. I was one of those who raised our hands. On the following Sunday I went with them to their church and during the sermon I was convicted of my sins. During the invitation I went forward to make public and confirm that I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ. I was baptized on the following Sunday, again with the hope that the pain in my head will be cured.
After graduation, I enrolled for review classes and when I went home to the province I was backslidden. When I went back to Manila, I started doubting whether I was really saved or not. Then, one afternoon I had a chance to talk to my pastor, about my doubts. Then he explained to me the plan of salvation and I sincerely repented of my sins. He also prayed for the healing of my head-ache. I consider that day, the real day of my salvation, ,January 9, 1984, I had a second baptism because I knew that the first time I accepted the Lord, I had a different motive, hence, my first baptism was not in order.
When I got out of the water I shouted, “I AM SAVED! “ Truly it was not the baptism that saved me but because I was overjoyed and I knew in my heart that this time I was really saved. From that day onward, I was burdened about the salvation of my parents and loved ones in the province. What if they die and they are not yet saved? I was restless for four (4) days and decided to go to the province and tell them about the saving grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST. The Lord gave me boldness to share the Gospel to an old man beside me in the bus on my way home. That was the first time I shared the Lord Jesus to someone, though I was a bit nervous, God enabled me to bring the first soul to the Lord.
By God’s grace, the Lord used me to bring my mother, my two brothers and a cousin to Iriga City, where a Bible Baptist Church is (this is more than 50 kilometers from our town) and when they heard God’s Word, they too were saved. From that day on, I lost my interest in my review classes and had my desire in soul winning, having experienced the joy of seeing people getting saved.
I was blessed to pass the board exam with less effort and became a mine accountant in a private firm and later got married. Then, early in May of 1986, I decided to resign from my job by September and enrolled in the Seminary.
God, however had a very different plan. On May 20, 1986, when I was about to visit the stockpile on the construction site, while I was in the dump truck, we came near the electric cable wire which was attached from the post to the house. The dumper struck that cable wire and the wire hit my forehead and I fell from the truck and was unconscious. I was brought to the hospital and my family was just waiting for me to die because the doctor told them there was no more chance for me to survive. I was told that when, my sister Rosie came, she hurriedly got an ambulance and brought me to Naga City. When we arrived in one of the hospitals there, they refused to take me in for lack of facilities, so that I was brought to another hospital and had surgery. I was unconscious for 3 weeks. And on January 1987, I was brought to Manila for another operation but after the operation the doctor told me that I can no longer walk.
I was desperate to serve God again. I thought it would be better for God to take me home with Him should I live a useless life. But God has a plan for my life. One day while I was watching TV, I saw a lot of scavengers at the Smokey Mountain, where most of the garbage in Metro Manila were dumped. I asked myself, how I can possibly share to these people the Gospel?. Then God impressed in my heart, that I should write a Gospel letter, entitled, SAAN PAROROON ANG AKING KALULUWA, SA LANGIT O SA IMPIERNO? When we had made it printed, my wife and I folded them and put them inside empty plastic bottles and used boxes/ containers and put them in the garbage cans with the hope that said gospel letters reach those poor scavengers at the Smokey Mountain. Then God gave me again a new Gospel letter entitled, “How Can I serve God In The Catholic Religion?. We got addresses from graduation books and sent them by mail. That was the birth of the Gospel Letter Ministry which started in December 1987.
From that time on God gave me different gospel letters. We sent gospel letters to 50 people a week. Then we got names and addresses from magazines, newspapers, phone directories and we send them gospel letters and tracts.
I requested tracts from abroad and one of them sent me a ten-wheeler truck loaded with different gospel tracts. And because of the huge quantity, we shared them with pastors from different Baptist Churches in our province and we gave them tracts by jeep-load. And the rest my wife and our friends distributed them to different schools in our town and nearby towns.
It was almost 17 years since God gave us this ministry and many people got saved. One of them is now a Pastor from Candon, Ilocos Sur. Many prisoners got saved and two of them visited me in my house when they were released. One of them was from Daet Provincial Jail, and another was from Muntinlupa Bilibid Prison . A prisoner that got saved at Muntinlupa Prison, was used by God to open up a Bible study inside the Prison house and it was my brother who was then preaching the Word to them every Thursday afternoon. Our Pastor was permitted to put up a little church house inside the Muntinlupa Bilibid Prison where Bible studies were conducted.
Aside from the Letter Ministry, and with the introduction and massive use of the cell phones God impressed on me the TEXT MINISTRY, wherein I send Bible verses and the Gospel by way of texting. I text to an average of 50 people a day. In addition, God is so good that He provided me with a computer. That was the start of a new ministry of which I called Baptist Internet Ministry. In this ministry I do send the Gospel throughout the world by way of the internet. The Gospel I am sending is not only for English-speaking people, but also for Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Greek, Arabic, Italian and French speaking people.
I had received many testimonies from people getting saved and most of them are from Africa and other parts of the world. Many Christians were revived and began soul winning too. A widow from Hongkong when she received the mail, immediately in the following morning had won two souls for Christ, because according to her she was challenged so much by our mail. One Ethiopian, after getting saved began sharing the Gospel too in their country. There are many good testimonies and professions of faith I had already received and I believed when we're all in heaven we will know for sure how many people indeed we're saved by God thru the various ministries that we have done..
I am requesting you my brethren to please pray for the internet ministry and my vision is to send the Gospel to 1,000 people a day. As of now the average I can send is from 250-400 a day. I needed the means please. Thank you so much and May God find us faithfully serving Him till He comes. I believe one of the greatest gifts God has given to us is SOUL WINNING no matter where we are or in what physical condition we are in. TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!!
