TRUTH FOR TODAY & FOR ALWAYS (Part I)

CIVILIZATION started about 6,000 years ago according to Biblical Chronology. There are those who seem to think man goes back much further than that but the facts show us that our recorded data is comprised of only 6000 years. There are not even “quick notes” which say, “We are here and will be writing shortly” or, we are in the process of developing ballpoint pens and so it will only look like the earth has been around 6000 years by the time we get to the year 2009.

Yes, I do like to mix sarcasm into my writing as ludicrous should be embellished by sarcasm to show how ludicrous it really is.

We have the recorded Bible where over and over we have the rules laid out for mankind. They are laid out by God Himself speaking through the writers. Now, there are some that believe there was a big bang, or ooze and subsequently, over a million, billion, trillion to the 99th power years later, New York City was built. These are the same people who find a watch on a beach and believe it was randomly constructed over time. (Wow, that’s deep, time creating time.)

For those people I say, “Good luck with that.” Although I know there is no luck only Divine Providence, they don’t and it is their only hope however misguided as they may be.

To continue, those laws were pretty straight forward. Some of them, the people (or many of them) still believe. As of this date, May 5th, 2009 (I write that because things are changing rapidly) most people believe, “Thou shalt not kill” except in the case of abortion where they rationalize that the baby fetus, is not really a baby and so you get to kill it whenever it becomes a “burden” to you. Ooops, I almost forgot. We now have a new and innovative procedure called “partial birth abortion” which we will leave to the lawyers to explain how this full term baby fetus, baby fetus, baby fetus,????? Is delivered (but only partially) so that the head is exposed.

Now the “doctor”??? can drill a hole in the baby’s fetus’, head and suck the brains out causing death, abortion, whatever. If it smells like a pig… osta

These same people would call the police if you forgot to feed your dog one time or said something ugly about a whale or decided to build a tree house. Save the trees!

So I decided to post the Ten Commandments. See how close you come to obeying (or disobeying) them all.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Anything you do that does not afford you appropriate time to be spent worshipping God, goes against this commandment.

Examples: Rather watch the football game on Sunday and not go to Church, Rather sleep late and not read the Bible or spend time in prayer. More “other” gods. Cheating on your spouse, homosexuality, perversity, always looking to get rich, no time for family…

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,…

This doesn’t mean (as our Jehovah witness neighbors believe) that you can not have a photograph. It means if you have a photograph, you can not bow down to it or worship it. Sound dumb? It also takes in paintings and statues. Have you ever seen someone kneeling in front of a statue?

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;

Go to any ball game, walk down the street, look at television. Anything that associates the Holy name of God with anything other than praise and reverence is an example of breaking this commandment.

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Remember when the stores were closed on Sunday? Oh my, what did we ever do??? We bought what we needed on Saturday. The hospitals, some drugstores and the police stations were open. God is not unreasonable. Remember families used to go to Church. Now Sundays are for anything but Church.

Honour thy father and thy mother:

As we watch many disrespectful kids cursing their parents and see the abuse that also accompanies grown men and women toward their parents we see the reason for this commandment. If you have money, throw them in a nursing home.
